Calving season is just around the corner and we are anxiously anticipating the first calves sired by Rito 469 of Rita 9514 1I2. Rito 469 was our pick in the 2005 Wehrmann Angus Bull Sale because of his unique combination of calving ease, performance, carcass potential, maternal merit and overall profitability. His $W of $30.97 and $B of $57.08 are both in the top 1% of the non-parent bulls. In fact, there is not a bull in the sire summary that can match his $W and $B combination. His adj. IMF was 8.29% with a ratio of 176... the highest in the sale. His Ultrasound IMF EPD is + .67 which again ranks in the top 1%.
He carries a birth EPD of 0.2, a yearling EPD of 100 and a milk EPD of 28. While he doesn’t have any carcass EPDs, his outstanding ultra sound information suggests that he has a high probability of excelling in actual carcass traits as well.
Rito 469 is used as an outcross sire on our line bred 036 females. He cleaned up our yearling heifers.
Rito 469 produced semen early allowing us to sample him in several commercial herds. Wehrmann Angus flushed several of their good donor females to him. Please join us in sampling this outstanding young sire.

Marbling, Growth and Maternal
Our goal at Roseda is to identify high marbling cattle with moderate birth weights that grow well and produce quality replacement females.
If you look for bulls that are over .6 for marbling EPD, above 90 for yearling EPD and a minimum of 20 for Milk EPD, the list gets pretty short. Roseda’s herd sires Prairiedge Marbull Design931 and Summitcrest Roseda Designed fit this profile quite nicely and have moderate birth EPDs as well.
Summitcrest Roseda Designed “L142” continues to impress us. His EPD profile improves with each additional calf crop. With a birth EPD of 2.1 and a yearling EPD of 96, he is one of the better 323 sons in terms of spread. When you consider his marbling EPD of .64 and milk EPD of 26, he’s hard to beat.
His first daughters weaned their first calves this fall with an average weaning ratio of 104. In fact, our top bull and heifer prospects are out of Roseda Designed daughters and sired by Marbull Design. What a combination!
Our first Prairiedge Marbull Design daughters will be calving this spring. Several are bred to Roseda Designed. We are really looking forward to this mating after seeing it in reverse last year.
Marbull Design is not in the spring sire summary because of his early use in a commercial herd and a change in board policy. However, if he were, he would be the high marbling EPD bull with a marbling EPD of .87. So get a jump on the Sire Searchers and consider using Marbull Design this spring.
Donors Selling in the Virginia Beef Expo
We always take the very best cows we can part with to the Virginia Beef Expo in April. Our donors flushed well this year, so we’ve decided to consign them. This is a great opportunity to add some of the very best carcass genetics to you herd.
Roseda Rachel Design N010 (14771993) is a Roseda Designed daughter out of a Butches Max cow. With an EPD profile of B -0.9, YR 94, M 24, MB .56, $W 23.37 and $B 41.20, she will stack up with most any cow in the breed. She weaned a Marbull Design heifer calf with a 125 weaning ratio. Bred A.I. to Future Direction.
Roseda Beauty ND M024 (14460466) is sired by 036 out of a Summitcrest Perfection daughter. EPDs are B 3.2, YR 80, M 34, MB .58, $W 22.74 and $B 44.76. We used a son in our breeding program and have flushed 2 daughters. Production is 1 @ 124. Bred A.I. to Future Direction.
Roseda Miss ND Georgia N037 (14650405) is sired by Roseda Designed out of a 036 Pathfinder cow that goes back to SA Direct Drive. EPDs: B 3.0, YR 88, M 31, MB .57, $W 23.63 and $B 43.14. Weaned a Marbull Design bull calf with a 122 ratio. Bred A.I. to Future Direction.
Roseda Ms Jessie Design M115 (14460478) is sired by 1407 out of a Precision 1680 daughter. Production is 1 @ 102 EPDs: B 2.7, YR 86, M 24, MB .39, $W 18.95 and $B 46.45. Bred A.I. to Summitcrest Roseda Designed.
